Ravens Week 14 Recap

The Ravens almost blew another one, until their defense save the game once again, pulling out a 34-28 win in overtime against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
The Ravens dominated the game throughout the entire first half, leading 21-7 at halftime. That lead became 28-7 after David Reed returned the second half opening kick-off for a touchdown. It looked like the Ravens were going to easily win the game, but nothing has been easy for the Ravens especially in the second half of games this season. The Texans mounted a 21-point comeback and were able to tie up the game, forcing overtime. They scored two touchdowns with just 6 minutes left, on drives of 99 yards and 95 yards against a tired Ravens defense who had been on the field for the majority of the second half.
In overtime, Josh Wilson intercepted Matt Schaub's pass and returned it 12 yards for the game-winning touchdown and prevented  what would have been an embarrassing loss.
The Ravens only managed to gain 253 yards of offense in the game, most of which came in the first half. The defense allowed 489 yards, most of which came during the Texans 21-point second half comeback. This was the eight blown fourth-quarter lead of the season by the Ravens' defense.
With the win, the Ravens are now 9-4 and are currently one game behind the Steelers for first place in the AFC North. The Ravens will return home in Week 15 to take on the New Orleans Saints, who have won six straight games. The Ravens' offense will need to keep their defense off of the field and be more productive throughout the entire game in order to prevent any blown leads.

My Blog

Recently, I started a blog. My blog can be found at http://charlierachel@blogspot.com or by accessing the link found on my Facebook profile. Since I started my blog,  I have put a lot of things on it each week. On my blog, you can find my weekly Ravens recaps, a short autobiography of my life, stories about people I know and work with, and many more articles that I have written over the past four months.
I started a Blog because I enjoy writing. Prior to creating a blog, my writing was saved on a computer, where only I had access to it. I wanted a way for others to read my writing and learn about my life. Starting a blog was a great way to let people read my work, if they want to. My blog has also become an easy way to express my feelings and emotions.
Having my blog means I can share my thoughts and stories with others even if we can't speak in person. It allows them to provide feedback to me and help inspire me to continue writing. I will be able to use my blog as a reference if my employers would like to see my work.

Ravens Week 13 Recap

The Ravens played at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. Many predicted that this would be a closely contested game since both teams had strong defenses. If the Ravens came out victorious in the game, they would have had a huge advantage over the Steelers and would pretty much be guaranteed first place in the AFC North for the remainder of the season.
In the first quarter, both teams started slowly as each teams' defense looked strong. As time was expiring in the first quarter, the Ravens were able to drive the ball 92-yards down the field. This drive was capped by a 14-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin, which gave the Ravens a 7-0 lead after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the defensive struggle continued as the Steelers and Ravens could only manage to score three points each. The Ravens led at the half, 10-3.
In the third quarter, both defenses remained strong and did not allow any points to be scored. In the third quarter it seemed like the Ravens offense began to fade much like the last two or three games this season, as they were very ineffective.
In the fourth quarter, the Steelers pushed to within 4 points with a 19-yard field goal with 13 minutes left in the game. With just over 3 minutes, the Ravens had the ball with a chance at running out the clock. On a second down play, Joe Flacco dropped back to throw, but was hit by Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, which caused the ball to fall out of Flacco's hands. The Steelers recovered the fumble and were able to take advantage of the costly turnover with just a few minutes left in the game to give them their first lead. Flacco and the offense couldn't get down the field to tie the game, as a fourth down pass fell short of tight end Ed Dickson to end any hope for the Ravens. The final score of the game was Steelers 13, Ravens 10.
With the loss the Ravens record falls to 8-4, 5-1 at home. Once again the offense played played well in the first half, but disappeared in the second half of the game and had a costly fumble, which cost them the game. The defense played well, only allowing 13 points. Joe Flacco also had a solid game as well. Unfortunately, the loss drops the Ravens out of first place in the AFC North. They will need the offense to play well for an entire game to have any shot at winning the AFC North. Next up for the Ravens is a Monday night showdown with the Houston Texans.

Ravens Week 12 Recap

The Ravens played at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12. Thus far this season, the Buccaneers have been a surprising team led by their young quarterback Josh Freeman. In order to win the game and stay in first place, the Ravens needed to shut down the Buccaneers offense and limit the big plays from Josh Freeman.
The game started slowly, as neither team was able to crack the opposing defense. Finally in the second quarter the Ravens got on the board as a result of a 45-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff. The Ravens added two touchdowns later in the quarter to extend their lead. The first of the two touchdowns came on a 65-yard touchdown pass to Todd Heap from Joe Flacco, making the score 10-0. A few minutes later, Joe Flacco connected with Derrick Mason on a 10-yard touchdown pass. The second quarter was a good one for the Raven's offense, as they finally got things going and ended the half with a 17-3 lead over the Buccaneers.
In the third quarter there was no scoring once again as the defense continued their strong play. In the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers offense showed some signs of life as they added a touchdown to make it 17-10 and start what appeared to be a come back effort. Late in the game the Buccaneers had a chance to tie the game, but the Ravens defense was able to stay strong and not allow any other points to preserve the win, 17-10.
With this win, the Ravens record improved to 8-3 and they remained in first place in the AFC North. Also with the win, the Ravens were able to extend their home winning streak to 8 games dating back to last season. The defense played well throughout the entire game keeping the team in the game especially in the second half when the offense seemed to disappear. The offense played well in the first half, but disappeared during the second half. In the second half, the offense showed no life or urgency, which has been the case in the second half of a lot of the games thus far this season. This is something that will need to be fixed in order for the Ravens to come out with a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.

Ravens Week 11 Recap

Coming into their Week 11 match-up against the Carolina Panthers, the Ravens had never won a regular season game in Carolina, but the combination of a bad Carolina offense and a solid team effort by the Ravens helped change that.
In the first quarter, Joe Flacco threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh to give the Ravens the early lead 7-0. Then Billy Cundiff kicked a 22-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, the Panthers kicked a field goal to get on the scoreboard and make it a 10-3 game. The Ravens answered with a 1-yard touchdown run by Ray Rice to add to their lead 17-3.
In the third quarter, both the Ravens and Panthers added field goals to make the score 20-6 through three quarters of play. In the fourth quarter, the Panthers connected an 88-yard touchdown pass to cut into the Ravens lead and pull them close for the first time all game. Billy Cundiff added his third field goal of the game to give the Ravens a little breathing room, 23-13.
Later in the quarter, the Ravens scored two defensive touchdowns within eleven seconds of each other. The first came on an Ed Reed interception, which he returned to the ten yard line and pitched to Dawan Landry who took it into the end zone. The very next play, Ray Lewis intercepted a pass and returned it in for a touchdown. Within eleven seconds the Panthers went from being in the game to being blown out and would have no other answers as they fell 37-13 to the Ravens.
The win was the first for the Ravens in Carolina during the regular season. The Ravens record improved to 7-3 as a result of a solid defensive effort. The Ravens return home in Week 12, as they will face off against the 7-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The defense will need to continue to play well to shut down the surprisingly good Buccaneers offense.

Ravens Week 10 Recap

In the first Thursday night game of the NFL season, the Ravens headed down to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons. Coming into the game, the Falcons were undefeated at home and the Ravens had struggled on the road for the most part this season. This game was no different for the Ravens, as their road struggles continued in Atlanta.
Through the first two quarters of the game, the Falcons outplayed the Ravens as they shut them out and made it hard for the Ravens offense to get anything going. The Falcons led 10-0 at halftime, but the score did not reflect the Falcons' dominance of the Ravens. The loan bright spot for the Ravens in the first half was their defense who kept them in the game, while they waited for the offense to wake up.
In the third quarter, the Falcons added to their lead with a field goal, which made it 13-0. Midway through the third quarter, the Ravens offense finally showed signs of coming alive as Joe Flacco threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin, which made it 13-7 Falcons.
In the fourth quarter, the Falcons added to their lead with another touchdown, but the Ravens scored two touchdowns (a 6-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Mason and a 9-yard touchdown pass to Todd Heap) to take the lead 21-20. It looked like the Ravens might pull out the win, but the Falcons were able to respond with a touchdown pass with just 33 seconds left in the game to steal back the win 26-21.
Joe Flacco had a good game throwing three touchdown passes, two of which came late in the game to help the Ravens take the lead in the fourth quarter. The offense gained 320 yards, but had two costly turnovers that impacted the outcome of the game. With the loss, the Ravens fall to 6-3 on the season. After having two games in 5 days the Ravens look to get some rest as they get over a week off before their next game and look to rebound when they travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers in Week 11.

Ravens Week 9 Recap

The Ravens took on the Miami Dolphins at home during Week 9. Coming into the game, the Ravens were undefeated at home and the Dolphins were undefeated on the road, so something had to give.
In the first quarter, Willis McGahee caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to give the Ravens the 7-0 lead. The Dolphins scored a touchdown later in the quarter to tie it up 7-7. In the second quarter, Billy Cundiff kicked two field goals to give the Ravens the 13-10 lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Joe Flacco threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Mason to add to the Ravens lead and making the score 20-10. In the fourth quarter, Billy Cundiff scored once again to seal the win for the Ravens, 26-10.
The Ravens improved their record to 6-2 with the win and are tied for first place with the Steelers. It was an overall good team effort, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Ravens next game is Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta. This will be a nationally televised game starting at 7 pm on the NFL Network and in Baltimore on WBAL-TV 11.

Ghost Hunters

Ghost Hunters is a television show in which lead investigators Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson and the rest of The Atlantic Paranormal Society, TAPS, investigate places throughout the country that have been reported to be haunted. Once they arrive at the site, Jason and Grant walk  around the property with the owner who usually describes any strange activities that have occurred at the site.
After this has occurred Jason, Grant, and the TAPS team use electronic equipment, which they believe is capable of detecting paranormal activity. They use equipment to record any unordinary data that they use to determine the presence of any paranormal activity. After a few day of review, the TAPS team return to the site and presents their findings to the owner.
New episodes of Ghost Hunters air every Saturday from 7-10 pm on the Syfy channel. They also rerun episodes during the week, usually on Wednesday nights at 9 pm. The show has become more popular over the years, which has resulted in the creation of similar shows, such as Ghost Hunters International, UFO Hunters, and Ghost Hunters Academy.
I have watched this show since late 2007 and really enjoy it a lot. I have become even more interested in ghosts after having my own dealings with them. My friend gave me a stereo as a graduation gift, when I graduated from high school in 1996. In 2000, my great grandmother passed away. After she died, the stereo turned on by itself, without anyone touching it.I thing it was her telling me she is ok. I never believid in ghosts until that time. Now I know they are real even if some people may not believe in them.

Ravens Week 7 Recap

The Ravens played against the winless Buffalo Bills in Baltimore. The Ravens scored on a field goal by Billy Cundiff to take the early 3-0 lead. Buffalo then scored ten points of their own to make it a 10-3 lead after the first quarter.
The Bills led 24-10 midway through the second quarter, much to the surprise of the Baltimore fans. In the final minute of the first half Billy Cundiff kicked a 48-yard goal and Todd Heap scored on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to make it a close game. The Bills led 24-20 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Anquan Boldin caught a 34-yard touchdown reception to give the Ravens the 27-24 lead. Willis McGahee scored on a 2-yard run to make it 34-24 Ravens, scoring 24 unanswered points.
In the fourth quarter, Buffalo scored 10 points to tie the game and force overtime for the second week in a row. In overtime, Billy Cundiff kicked a 38-yard field goal, after the defense forced a costly turnover, to pull out a Ravens victory.
The defense did not play well, even with the return of Ed Reed, allowing 506 total yards. They stepped up when it mattered most, forcing the turnover that led to the game winning field goal in overtime.
With the win, the Ravens improve to 5-2, which is good for second place in the AFC North. They are also now 3-0 at home this season and will host the Miami Dolphins following a bye week in week 8.

Ravens Week 6 Recap

The Ravens played against the New England Patriots in New England in a tightly fought game, as many expected it to be.
Billy Cundiff kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Ravens the early 3-0 lead in the 1st quarter. The Ravens trailed 7-3 heading into the second quarter, until Joe Flacco threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Todd Heap, which gave the Ravens the10-7 lead, which would stand until the end of the half.
In the 3rd quarter the Ravens scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass  from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin to give the Ravens the lead 17-7. The Ravens were wining going into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Ravens scored on a 25-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff. The Ravens led 20-10 and it looked liket he Ravens were going to win, but the Patriots scored 10 unanswered points to tie the game and send it into overtime. In overtime, the Patriots would pull out the win on a field goal with 2 minutes left. The loss puts the Ravens in second place with a 4-2 record.
Joe Flacco had a good game, passing for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns. The offense gaind 377 total yards. The defense did not look bad either, and should get even better from this point with the addition of safety Ed Reed who is back from an injury that put him out for the first 6 weeks of the season.

Orioles 2010 Season Recap

Coming into the season, there was a lot of hope surrounding the 2010 Orioles. This hope was brought about by the off-season additions of veterans such as Kevin Millwood, who were brought to Baltimore to provide leadership and to help the team's younger players continue to develop. That was the goal for the 2010 season, but that is not how it started. The Orioles began the season by losing 11 of their first 12 games. To make things worse, second basemen Brian Roberts was placed on the disabled list and would not return until midway through the 2nd half of the season.
The Orioles continued their bad play through June 4th, with a 15-40 record. The Orioles were off to their second worst start in franchise history, which led to Manager Dave Trembley being fired. Juan Samuel took over as manager and things did not get much better. The Orioles were 29-59 heading into the all-star break.
Looking for any way to help turn the season around, Buck Showalter was hired as the Orioles Manager on August 3rd. After Showalter was hired, the team went on a hot streak that would last throughout the remainder of the season. The team won 8 of the first 10 games under Showalter and won 33 games total in the two months that Showalter was the coach. The Orioles finished the 2010 season with a 66-96 record and were 30 games out of first place in the American League North, although it could have been a lot worse. This was the team's 13th straight losing season.
It is important to focus on the highlights of the season though. Nick Markakis continued to be the team's best hitter, hitting .297. Luke Scott led the team in homeruns with 27, and Jeremy Guthrie had 11 wins. In order for the Orioles to keep building on their hot play under Showalter, the team will need to add a few more players this off-season. They need to add a power hitter to the middle of the lineup as well as another starting pitcher to improve the rotation. If they are able to do this, then who knows how good the Orioles can be in 2011.

Austin Powers Movie Review

The Austin Powers movies are some of my favorite movies of all time. They are intended to be comic versions of the James Bond movies, making fun of the plot and characters in these movies. There are three different movies in this series. They are International Man of Mystery, The Spy Who Shagged Me, and Goldmember. Mike Myers is the lead actor in the Austin Powers series, playing a few different rolls in the movie, such as Austin Powers and Doctor Evil.
All of the movies in the series are based around the villain Doctor Evil's attempt to control the world. He attempts to do so by threatening the government to give him large amounts of money or else he will use things to make them give the money over, such as placing a rocket on the moon. A British spy, Austin Powers, has to work to stop Doctor Evil from carrying out his evil plans and prevent him from taking control of the world.
I would highly recommend for people to watch the Austin Powers movies. They add humor and comedy to the James Bond movies. It is interesting to see the James Bond movies being made fun of.

Ravens Week 5 Recap

The Ravens played against the Denver Broncos in Baltimore this past Sunday. Unlike many of the predictions made leading up to the game, it was not that close of a game.
The Ravens opened the scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run by Joe Flacco in the first quarter to give them the early lead. The Ravens scored again on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter by Ray Rice to give them a 14-0 lead. That touchdown was then followed by a 37-yard field goal by Billy Cundiff. The Ravens lead at the half 17-7 and would never look back.
In the fourth quarter Ray Rice scored with another 1-yard touchdown run. Then Willis McGahee scored on a 30-yard touchdown run that pretty much ended any hopes the Broncos had at making a comeback.
The final score of the game was 31-17. Ray Rice had a good game, rushing for 133 yards and scoring two touchdowns. The Ravens offense gained 415 total yards. Of the 415 yards, 233 came on the ground. The defense played ok, allowing 346 yards, 17 points, and forcing one turnover.
With the win, the Ravens improve to 4-1 on the season. They are currently in first place heading into their game against the New England Patriots, a game that should be a good one. The Ravens offense will need to continue producing in order to have a chance against the Patriots this weekend.

Facebook

Facebook is a social network that allows it's users to contact friends and family they may not see or talk with often. It's also a great way to meet new people. You set up a profile, with pictures and information about yourself to share with your friends. You can friend other people that have an account, you can post a biography about yourself, and you can become fans of sports teams, celebrities, and more. Fan pages are pages of celebrities or sports teams. They allow for fans to write on a variety of topics and see pictures as well as videos and links to other websites relating to that person or team.
My profile has pictures and information about my likes and about me. I have nine friends and I am a fan of David Hasselhoff, WWE, TNA, the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles, Joe Flacco, and more. I also have all of my interests, such as writing, my favorite books and movies under my biography. I can also advertise my blog on Facebook. I can use my status to post links to my most recent blog posts. I hope that one day I will be able to use Facebook and my blog to help me get a job.
Facebook has been very useful to me. I think that if you want to meet new people or reconnect with old friends or family members, you should look into getting a Facebook account. If you do get an account, you should be careful of who you are talking to because many bad things may happen if you are not careful and share too much information on your profile.

Ravens Week 4 Recap

The Ravens played on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers and came out with a close 17-14 win.
The Ravens trailed 7-0 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Willis McGahee scored the game-tying touchdown on a 7-yard run. Billy Cundiff added a 33-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to give the Ravens a 10-7 lead.
The Ravens trailed 14-10 until the final drive of the game. With 32 seconds left in the game, Joe Flacco threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh to pull out the win.
The Ravens offense looked good for the second straight week, gaining 320 total yards off offense. The defense returned to form, only allowing Pittsburgh to gain 210 total yards of offense and forcing one turnover. With the win, the Ravens improved to 3-1 and are now in first place in the AFC North heading into their week 5 match-up at home against the Denver Broncos.

WWE and TNA Wrestling

There are two main professional wrestling promotion organizations present today. They are the WWE and TNA. WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment, which is the largest professional wrestling promotion in the world. The World Wrestling Entertainment was founded in 1952 and is owned and operated by Vince McMahon. WWE's focus is on professional wrestling, as it combines the sport with acting and theatre.
The WWE produces three weekly-televised programs. The first of the these progams airs on the USA Network on Monday nights at 9 pm and lasts for two hours. This prograam is called Monday Night Raw. The wrestlers on this show are known as "Superstars." Wrestlers on this show include John Cena and Hunter Hurst Helmsly (also known as Triple H). This program was WWE's first program, so it is considered the most popular. The second program is called WWE Superstars. The WWE Superstars program airs on Thursday nights at 8 pm on WGN America. The WWE Superstars program features WWE talent from both of the independent programs: Raw and SmackDown. The third program to air during the week is SmackDown. SmackDown airs on Friday nights at 8 pm, on the Syfy channel and features names like C.M. Punk.
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, TNA, is the other professional wrestling promotion company that was founded by Jerry and Jeff Jarrett in 2002 to rival WWE. Overtime, TNA has expanded from monthly pay-per-view events to a weekly production. TNA produces 1 weekly program, which airs on SpikeTV on Thursday nights. This program is known as TNA Thursday.
WWE and TNA are similar to one another with the same types of matches and events. Some of the differences between WWE and TNA are that WWE has three programs that air throughout the week, while TNA has just one program. WWE was the first of the professional wrestling promotion companies.
I began watching WWE wrestling a long time ago. My uncle and grandfather introduced me to it and encouraged me to watch it. I really enjoyed it and became a regular viewer of the three programs that are produced by the WWE. I liked it because it looked like fun and was very entertaining. I later became a fan of TNA thanks to Kevin Walla who told me about it and encouraged me to watch it since he knew I was a fan of the WWE.

Ravens Week 3 Recap

The Ravens played their home opener against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. The Ravens offense finally woke up, scoring more points in Week 3 then they had all season and gaining 365 yards of total offense.
The Ravens scored on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Anquan Boldin in the 1st quarter to give them the early lead. Flacco and Boldin hooked up again, this time for a 12-yard touchdown pass to give the Ravens the halftime lead, 14-10.
The Browns scored a touchdown in the 4th quarter to give them the lead, 17-14. Later in the quarter, Flacco and Boldin hooked up one final time for another touchdown to help the Ravens regain the lead. Billy Cundiff added a 49-yard field goal to put the game out of reach with just over five minutes left.
The defense struggled a little bit, allowing the Browns' offense to gain 304 yards and running back Peyton Hillis to rush for 144 yards. They also did not force any turnover in the game, which was a first on the early season. The Ravens' defense did have two sacks in the game on a positive note.
With the win, the Ravens improved their record to 2-1. They are still in third place in the AFC North, but they are only one game behind the 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers who they play in Week 4, which will be a battle for 1st place. Watch the game on WJZ TV 13 in Baltimore at 1 pm.

Ravens Week 2 Recap

The Ravens played the Cincinnati Bengals on the road in week 2. Unlike in Week 1, the Ravens did not look good, losing 15-10.
It seemed as if Baltimore might win as they led midway through the 4th quarter 10-9, but the Bengals scored 6 unanswered points in the last five minutes of the game. The Ravens' offense was driving with 2 minutes left in the game, when Joe Flacco threw his fourth interception to wrap up the game.
The Ravens' scoring came on a 31-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Mason from Joe Flacco in the 3rd quarter and on a 38-field goal by Billy Cundiff in the 4th quarter.
The Ravens' defense was one of the few bright spots in the game. They held the Bengals to five field goals and no touchdowns, while allowing the Bengals to gain only 253 total yards of offense.
With their loss against the Bengals, the Ravens fell to 1-1 on the season and are now currently in third place in the AFC North. They are 1 game out of first place behind the 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers. Hopefully the Ravens' offense will wake up in time for their week 3 contest at home against the Cleveland Browns.

My Love - Tonya Fralin

One day I received a phone call from one of my friends, Jason. He was hanging out with a girl named Tonya and he was wondering if I would like to talk to her, so we started talking to one another. We talked on the phone a couple times in the next few weeks, until I was invited to attend a church service at Westminster High School. When I got there Jason, Bruce, and Tonya were standing outside waiting for me and we went inside together - Tonya sat next to me. That afternoon she called me and asked if I wanted to start going out with her - on a funny side note I had been thinking about doing the same thing, but she beat me to it.
We started dating on June 28th, 2000. We got engaged on May 24th, 2004 at my nephew's birthday party. My mom wanted to watch me propose to Tonya, but she was too busy, so I just gave the ring to Tonya and put it on her finger. I then kissed her and we have been engaged ever since.
In 2004, I would unexpectedly get sick, so sick that I almost died. Tonya was there through it all. She was always by my side to provide support to my family and me. Things got so bad that I could not remember much of anything. Even through those times, I always remembered Tonya and how much she meant to me.
Tonya has meant so much to me over the ten plus years we have been dating. She makes me feel so happy that I feel like I am floating on a cloud and I never want to lose that feeling.
We are not able to hang out as much as I would like since Tonya moved to Union Bridge a few years ago. When we do hang out together, we sit and talk or watch TV. The time we spend together means so much to me and I wish we could hang out more often than we do. To make up for the time we are not able to spend together in person, we talk on a daily basis through email, phone calls, or on Facebook.
Tonya and I hope to soon be married and live together. This will be so much nicer than it is now. We also plan on having another child in the near future, which will be a real joy for both of us.

Charlotte's Web Movie Review

The remake of Charlotte's Web was a great movie from start to finish. It is a story in which two unlikely characters become best friends, which is very inspiring to see. I highly recommend watching it whenever you get  a chance. It is the story of a spider named Charlotte who, with the help of some friends from the barn, sets out to save a pig named Wilbur from being slaughtered. Wilbur is going to be slaughtered because she is a spring pig who usually doesn't get to see the winter. Charlotte and the rest of Wilbur's friends have to work together to convince the farmer that Wilbur is special and is worth keeping.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time and I enjoyed it as much as the original version. It is a great family film, with many inspiring lessons to be learned from watching it. I give it a ten out of ten.

Ravens Week 1 Recap

The first Ravens game was a good one. Joe Flacco had a great game, throwing for 248 yards. Ray Lewis had a good game leading the Ravens' defense that only allowed the Jets' offense to gain 176 total yards and score a mere 9 points, all coming on field goals.
The Ravens trailed in the game heading into the second half, until late in the second quarter, when Willis McGahee scored a touchdown on a one yard run, which put the Ravens in the lead, 7-6. Billy Cundiff added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter to make the score 10-6. This was all the scoring the Ravens would need to win the game. The final score was 10-9 Ravens, starting the season off on a positive note.

Ravens Season Preview

The Ravens have some good players this year on offense, such as Anquan Boldin who will serve as the primary receiver for Joe Flacco and the passing game. The addition of receivers Anquan Boldin and T.J. Houshmandzadeh will help open up the running game and help Joe Flacco continue to develop into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Ray Rice will continue to have an impact on the running game.
Ray Lewis is the quarterback of defense, which should be witch should be strong once again this year although Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed is out for at least the first six games while he recovers from off-season hip surgery. Haloti Ngata anchors the defensive line and looks to build off of a solid season in 2009.
The first game is Monday night September 13 against the New York Jets. This will be a nationally televised game starting at 7 p.m.on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Not only will it be the first game of the season for both teams, but it will be the first game in the New Meadowlands Stadium for the Jets.
In order to win this game the Ravens must shut down the Jets offense led by second year quarterback Mark Sanchez. It is equally as important for the Ravens offense to move the ball down the field against one of the best defenses in the NFL led by cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Other key match ups this season include: October 3rd on the road versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, October 17th once again on the road against the New England Patriots, December 5th in Baltimore against the Steelers, and December 19th against the defending Super Bowl Champions - the New Orleans Saints.
I predict that this will be a good season for the Ravens. I believe that the Ravens will be 12-4 this season and will win the AFC North. In doing so, they will make the playoffs for the second straight season. Once in the playoffs, the Ravens will win the Super Bowl. Joe Flacco will have a big season and will earn a trip to the Pro Bowl at the end of the season.

Living With a Disability

People with developmental disabilities can lead normal lives just like everyone else; the only difference is that we do things a little differently and maybe more slowly than everyone else. These differences do not change the fact that we have hopes, dreams, and expectations just like everyone else.
I was born with cerebral palsy, which has caused me to use a wheelchair or a walker for assistance in order to get around. This has been hard for me, especially when I am in small spaces, at work, or in large crowds. It is also hard when I need to use the restroom. Some restrooms are not big enough for my wheelchair to fit in, which causes problems for me. Sometimes I need to wait for assistance in order to use the bathroom, which is very frustrating - I wish I could do this myself, it would be much easier.
I also wish that people were a little nicer to me when I go out. Most of the time people are very nice and help me when I ask for it, but sometimes when I go out people can be very rude. If I say excuse me while I am trying to get by, they act like they do not hear me and go on with their lives as if I do not exist. They often talk about me, which I do not like.
There are things that I wish would be changed in order to make my life a little easier. First, I wish that there would be more handicap accessible restrooms available in all buildings. I wish that some of the doors to those restrooms would open at the push of the button. It would also be nice if the stalls were all big enough so that people with wheelchairs, like me, would have an easier time and make going to the bathroom less of a project. I also wish that there were more opportunities for handicaps to be able to work and be included in society. I think that people should be hired based on their skills and not based on whether or not they have a disability, which is not always the case today.
Living with cerebral palsy may limit my mobility, but it has not changed my creativeness or my mind. I think of things some people might not. I wonder about places I have not been and might never go. I think about the different customs they have and how their lives may be different. I also enjoy writing and using the computer very much. One day I hope to work for the Carroll County Times or another newspaper.
This is how living with a disability is for me, Charlie Rachel.

The Adventures of Cyberspace

Once upon a time in the town of Cyberville there lived a super hero. His name was Cyberman (his name comes from the word cyberspace meaning the Internet). Cyberman could travel through cyberspace using email and the print icon on his computer to get to his destination. His job was to protect cyberspace from the evil Spaminator. Spaminator was known for sending spam and viruses to millions of computers worldwide, causing them to crash. Once all of the computers worldwide has crashed, the world would be left in total darkness and the evil Spaminator would be in complete control.
Cyberman however always made sure to keep his computer protected from all kinds of viruses. Armed with the newest technology, Cyberman set out to stop Spaminator from taking over the world. Since Spaminator's latest virus did not affect Cyberman's computer, he could track the Spaminator's where-abouts.
Cyberman located Spaminator in Baltimore, Maryland, so he jumped into the computer disk drive. Once inside the computer he grabbed the email envelope and zipped through cyberspace and found himself in Baltimore. He then clicked print and jumped off the page at Spaminator. Cyberman then shouted his catch phrase, "Never fear, Cyberman is here." Then Cyberman and Spaminator began a long battle for control of the wolrd. They took turns firing their lazar weapons at each other. Then Cyberman had a bright idea. "If I just press delete this fight will be over," he thought to himself. So he did just that and Spaminator and his virus vanished. Spaminator shouted, "You haven't seen the last of me," as he vanished off into cyberspace.
Cyberspace was once again safe thanks to Cyberman's heroics.

The Day the World Changed

On September 11th, 2001, a cowardly terrorist group led by Osama Bin Laden attacked the United States of America. Many people lost their lives when two plains crashed into the twin towers at the World Trade Center in New York City, as well as the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and in a field in Pennsylvania. The site of these horrible attacks, in New York City, is now known as Ground Zero.
These attacks may have changed the look of the United States in 2001, but they did not change the countries' pride and strength. If anything, it made the U.S. a more unified and stronger nation. Another result of these attacks was the United States entered a war on terrorism in the Middle East, in an attempt to prevent any further attacks by terrorist groups and to search for weapons of mass destruction.
It is hard to believe that it has been 9 years since these attacks. It is important to continue to remember these attacks and about those who lost their lives. In order to do so, we hold remembrances each year for those who bravely lost their lives on that day and in the war on terrorism.
It is also important to remember the brave men and women that are fighting in the Middle East to protect our freedom to this day. To the people fighting to protect our nation, we say thank you.

Donald Rowe

At The Arc there are approximately 300 staff members and about 600 members that are supported by the various programs that The Arc runs on a daily basis. The president of this program is Donald Rowe. Donald is responsible for making sure everyone is following the policies and rules. He is also responsible for having enough staff to be sure the needs of all of the clients are being met on a daily basis. He takes care of the programs financing and the safety issues within the building. He likes to know everyone is happy and having a good time. Don works with Floyd, Kevin, and Cristin to plan more activities for clients to participate in.
He was kind to talk with me and asked me my opinion of The Arc. It can be said that Don "loves [his] job!"

In Memoriam

Charlie was a great guy and friend to many people here at The Arc. Everyone loved him and still does to this day. He is truly missed, but his memories live on. Charlie is remembered for many things, such as being a good friend and a funny person. When times were tough he found a way to brighten up our day and make us laugh. He also loved his girlfriend of many years, Tori Eshelman.
Charlie was my lunch buddy. He would always have a lot of food for lunch everyday. I jokingly would ask him, "Where do you put all that food?" He would reply, "In my belly."
I also remember how we would talk about the World Wresting Entertainment (WWE). We often talked about whom we wanted to win in the match that night or in a few days.
I would like to say once again how much we all love Charlie. We will miss you Charlie. You were a great friend who will never be forgotten. Hope to see you someday soon.

Sincerely,
Charlie Rachel

In Memory of Shane Davidson

Shane was my best friend. During our childhood, we rode the school bus together even though we attended different schools. Some of my favorite memories with Shane are the fun times we spent together going fishing on the weekends. We went fishing almost every weekend until I awoke one Saturday morning to learn we would never go fishing again. We would never go fishing again because my friend Shane had passed away. If I remember correctly, Shane had a heart attack. We were like brothers, so I felt like a part of me died that day when I heard the news of Shane's passing. His passing made me very sad for a long period of time.
I do not think I will ever get over Shane's death. I am constantly reminded of Shane and our times together, which makes it harder to completely get over. Sometimes when I get lonely, I think of him and wonder what we would be doing if he were here today. I still think of Shane and our fishing adventures and even though we may never go fishing again, I still picture us fishing every weekend in my memories and dreams. I know he is in a better place and he is watching over me.
I will never get over the loss of my friend Shane, but it has gotten easier to accept his death over time. I miss Shane very much and think about him often. I know I will see him again some day, when we will be able to go fishing in a big ocean in Heaven. Rest in peace Shane.

Sincerely,
Charlie Rachel

The Arc Convention 2010

The Arc Convention was fun and I learned a lot of really good information. I met a writer who wants to help me get my work published once I write a book. Speaking of books, I also attended the Next Chapter Book Club, which was a mock book club meeting. I think we should start a chapter here at The Arc for those who are interested in reading.
I was also pleased to learn more about how The Arc helped the clients after the closing of Rosewood. I was moved by the stories the clients shared about how it has changed their lives. This experience sure has changed my life as well. Without places like The Arc, where would the clients be today?
So in closing, I would like to say thank you to the Arc for inviting me to this convention and I look forward to going again soon.

Introduction to Me

My name is Charlie Rachel. I was born September 10, 1976 in Baltimore, Maryland. I grew up most of my life in Carroll County, but spent a few years of my childhood in North Carolina. I went to Rock Creek Elementary School and Carrolltown Elementary School. I then went to Mount Airy Middle School, and South Carroll High School. Currently I am at The Arc trying to find a job with the newspaper as a journalist.
My mom and I moved to North Carolina to try something new. We soon came back to escape the harsh winter. When it snowed it took a long time to clean the roads because they did not clean the roads until it stopped snowing. Now I am home in good old Maryland, and I will never leave here again.
My favorite subjects in school were science, social studies, photography, and computer sciences. I also enjoyed pep rallies, and after school activities such as dances, and chorus practice for concerts. I was on the honor roll, earning A's and B's but mostly A's. Then I went into a post secondary program where I almost found a job until I was enrolled at the Maryland Rehab Center in Baltimore.
I want to be a writer because I enjoy using the computer, which allows me to write more easily. Working for the newspaper would be a neat job to have because it would allow me to combine my love of computers with my newfound love of writing.
In closing I would like to thank my friends and family for their support, and Kevin Walla, without whom I might not have discovered my newfound love of writing. Thank you for your time to allow me to tell you things you may not have known about me.

Yours truly,
Charlie Rachel
